I have just been informed from a member that his golf day with 30 guests was ruined by another member. They had a golf day with invited sponsors and were outraged at graffiti written on banners refering to them "pinching our buggies". The group in question did not even have a single buggy, and have also lost the sponsorship for next year. If we find out who has done this, we will have no hesitation in cancelling their membership. Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

If anyone is any doubt, the society in question is The Plough Inn Golf Society from Ellington.

I and another member arrived at the course at 6:30am to go around the course to set up the tees with details of the competition on each hole and details of our sponsor for each hole.  This was on the Sunday of the August Bank Holiday.

We have spent alot of time raising money from our sponsors for our annual competition.  Every tee was sponsored and we had arranged for a local photography company to do a shoot for our sponsors on their tees.

In total we spent well over £1200 on our society day, only for some idiot to write over the sponsor advert "You's Knicked Are Buggies"

Firstly, get your facts right. We used one ranger buggy for the refreshments half way around the course.  We had 46 PIGS and guests that day and did not use any normal buggies. As we were at the course at early o'clock I do not think it is unreasonalbe for us to secure one ranger buggy for our society day.

But secondly,  Dont be a coward if you have anything to say, there were plenty of us about for you to have a word with us if you think we "knicked Are Buggies"

The sponsor has now advised us he does not want to be associated with any problems and thanks to you we have lost £100 for next year.  Thanks for that.

Please make yourself known to the PIGS, we play every Sunday at 10:00am and we will accept your cash or a cheque for £100 to go towards next year's competition.

Not wanting to hijack the post or anything but this is just another example of a lot of problems with longhurst golf club. Along with various other posts made on the forum just sums up why i have made the decision not to be renewing my membership in Nov and will be joing elsewhere.

That is an outrageous comment. Graham and his team cannot take the blame for this type of behaviour.

I couldnt disagree more that it is an outrageous comment. Also at no point in my post do i blame Graham and his team for what happened to your game. What my point was and still is, is that there is a lot of bad feeling between members non members and the staff.

Firstly as a long standing member at Longhirst may I take this opportunity to say that the person that caused this mindless damage needs to be named and shamed.IDOIT!!!!

Secondly, and I have been an option 1 member at Longhirst since it opened I do not have any "bad feeling" towards any non member nor any staff member.Hodgie20us maybe you could clarify your statement as it is very vague.

Hodgie
I am astounded at your comment re feelings between staff and members. As manager I have been here nearly 15 years and not had a bad word with anyone, member or not. As a club we do all we can to satisfy the needs of all our customers. Being a busy and successful club it goes without saying we cannot keep everybody happy. We will carry on the way we are working now, investing in the facilities.I am dissapointed at your comments, but like I say we cant keep everybody happy.

At no point when I raised my concerns with Graham did I ever think that the response would be another attack on the members, guests or staff of OUR course.

Let us not loose sight that this thread was started because of a mindless idiot who in my mind should be put in stocks next to the dawson first tee to raise money for our society comp next year.

I belive that this forum COULD AND SHOULD be a great medium for members to enjoy our course, but time after time I see it as being  used as a tool to abuse the management  of the club.

Yes there will always be comments about how things could be done better  but can we please draw a line under all the negative abuse of the club and let us be constructive in pushing this great club forwards to where we all want it to be.

My final post on this and it is to clarify all i can say is have a look through the other posts made on this forum by various members and that should answer where my opinion of bad feeling about how things could be done comes from.
