A few visitors have commented to me this week that they have received verbal abuse from some of our members for playing at Longhirst. Comments such as "too many visitors", "get back to your own course" etc have been mentioned. One of these comments was directed to a new member which certainly makes the club look bad. I know its a minority saying this, but can I stress the revenue from these visitors has kept us in a healthy position leading into the season after a difficult winter. The two courses come on line on April 1st and will reduce a lot of the congestion problems.

| Well said Graham! There have been comments placed on this forum that beggar belief. Do our esteemed members think their membership fees pay for everything. We as members rely on the Visitors/Societies coming to Longhirst for a variety of reasons mostly though for their hard earned cash in the till. Regardless of who these people are, on your course this is a disgrace that fellow members should act in this way, they should be ashamed. |

| I would like to say that I totally agree with the above comments and Iam pleased to say that Iam not one of the mindless minority who have been unsociable towards visitors to Longhirst.I visit other golf clubs in the area and I would hate to be treat in the manner as described by Graham.A couple of weeks ago my wife and I were joined up with two visitors from Burgham Park as the course was very busy at that particular time,I have to say they were perfect gentlemen towards my wife and we had a very enjoyable round of golf and also a few laughs.I endeavour to treat people the way I would like to be treat .People need to remember that we are members of the club, and the way we, as members conduct ourselves towards visitors can have a positve or negative effect on Longhirst. There is enough hatred and disharmony in this world without recreating it on a golf course where the only thing most people want to do is relax and have a bit of leisure time. |

astonishing that anyone connected with the course could be so out of order. Its a pity the visitors didnt point out the group that made the comments.
Perhaps visitors could be encouraged to comment after they've been, particularly parties and societies.
I run a society and we've always been welcomed at most courses but the odd few could do with some'constructive criticism'. Theres one in particular who made a right hash of a visit last year and when I emailed them suggestions as to how it could have been better they ignored it, so theres a coastal Northumberland course not getting our business again.
Maybe that course can afford to choose whether they accept £500 from visitors, but I seriously wouldnt recommend it to anyone ...
To be honest, whilst I enjoy being a member of Longhirst I really enjoy playing different courses and I would think theres a fair few who'd agree. This blinkered approach and ridiculous sense of ownership that some members have gets my goat wherever I play.
