Just to make things clear. Any promotion on visiting green fees, now or in the future, are carefully thought out. As I've said before the times visitors can come on a promotion, historically, is when we have the least number of members playing, hence maximising tee time usage and money coming in. This all helps keep costs down for members. NO reduced greenfees are available at members peak times, ie weekends. At the end of the day we are looking after members by offering what we do to members and visitors. They are both significantly linked. Without one we wouldn't have the other.
I fully support what you`re doing Graham,it makes good business sense and keeps cost`s down to a minimum for members.At the end of the day everyone is enjoying the benefit whether you are a member or non member.Keep up the good work.

When these offers are on would it not be sensible to also reduce the amount option 2 members pay. For example, I played this evening and payed £7 the same as visitors were paying. Maybe £5 for option 2 members when its £7 for visitors would be an idea. Surely it cant be right that a visitor pays the same as a member at any time.

Members can book a month in advance to assure their tee time. I am repeating myself over and over. You chose the option 2 membership John, with its green fee. You obviously knew its features before you joined.
I think the promo that’s been on during April has benefited everyone. £10 round for the week days for visitors so still a bit more than option 2 members and full price at weekends. £7 at twilight for visitors were I can imagine not many people play due to the location of Longhurst is quite a reasonable thing in my opinion. So again a great promo all round. Well done to the staff for this.

Yes we are going over old ground coz I still think it is ridiculous that a visitor is charged the same as a member, at anytime of day. I dont care how long people can book in advance, its completely irrelevant to me coz I dont book a month in advance. And yes you are correct, I chose option 2 membership with its £7 greenfee and knew its features when I joined. And I still think its a great deal, which is what I have always said on here. But what I didnt know is that I could have saved my £170 (membership & joining fee) and played for £7 anyway. This is exactly why myself, and 4 others that I know of, are re-joining Blyth. We can come back to Longhirst at certain times and play for £7 or £10 anyway. That's not the only reason mind, but that too would be going over old ground.

You have, as I can see utilised your option 2 membership to the full, and therefore gained as much as possible from it. That is exactly what I and a few others intend to do. Play at those times when its only £7. Although £10 is very reasonable too. Checking my playing history?? I cant argue with that. Looks like I should have chosen 'rubberduck' as my login name tho, instead of just my name.
Personally, I think its an excellent opportunity to bring friends and associates along to try the course. Had a short notice game last week and the fourball included one of our past regular society members who's just oved back to the area.
So, I show him a fourball and two buggies for under forty quid and what's he going to do? Recommend it to everyone, thats what.
Rather than pay a £5, or £6.99 or whatever maybe its worth running a bar promotion afterwards - four pints for eight quid or whatever.
John - is it really worth going back to Blyth because of this? At least you can wear trainers in the bar at Longhirst without a fatwa being declared .....
