played today in a 2 ball we both played ok course in good nick nice weather so the only thing that spoilt it was being held up by a 3 ball from the first tee till the 16th when they asked us to play through we told them no not worth it now any chance of a couple of signs up to say let people play through 4hr 20 mins for a 2 ball is to long

I had the same problem on saturday. A 4 ball held us up for 14 holes befor letting us through. A 4hr 30 min game for a 2 ball is not good.

It is frustrating, however if a group is taking this long without them being held up it would suggest that they are also not playing very well, which would also suggest that they are probably either beginners or occasional players who are possibly unaware of rules on slow play, or just unaware of the frustration that they are causing and unless the rest of us who know better tells them, they will probably never know. I simply take whatever opportunity that I can to get their attention and ask to play through  which generally is met with an apology and letting us play through. However everybody needs to do this, as there is nothing worse than being a few groups behind the players causing slow play and not being able to say anything either to the group causing it, or the group behind them who are not asking to play through.

the average round of golf is 4 hrs 5mins. On a busy day 4.20 is not excessive. A 2 ball following a 3 or 4 ball will always lead to hold ups.
